it also blessed with ancient historical structure. This land is ruled by
Alexander the great, Arabs, Mughals, and White Huns so the reflection of the
different eras can be shown in these marvel old buildings.
Forts are constructed through the history some as the symbol of love, some as a practical measure to subdue rebels or win
wars, others as a show of strength of a ruling party or to serve as a more
secure and formidable palace for the powerful. What so ever the reason they
provide us beautiful view in the history.

list of top ten forts throughout the country.
Ramkot Fort
Ramkot fort is antique fort located in Azad Kashmir.
It is 13km away from Dina and accessible through the boats and 79 kilometers by
road from Mirpur.
The chronology of the fort’s construction and
even its age remain unanswered questions but it is believed this fort was built
by Muslim ruler of Kashmir between 16th and 17th
centuries.It is located on the hill top and its three sides
are surrounded by river Jhelum and it presents a view of beautiful landscape.
Ranikot Fort
Ranikot fort is believed to be world’s largest fort with the
circumference of approximately 90Km. This historical fort is located in Sann, Sindh.
Ranikot is 90km to the north of Hyderabad from national highway and one hour
journey from Karachi to Sann on Indus highway.
It is also known as great wall of Sindh. Purpose of the Construction
and architects of this fort are unknown. Since 1993, it has been on the
tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Multan fort
This fort is consider the landmark of South Asia for defense and architecture.
Originally fort was built between 800 and 1000 B.C.
it is situated near Multan city on the hillock separated from the
city by River Ravi. Shah Rukn-e-Alam, the
famous Sufi Saint is buried within its boundaries.
Attock Fort
This fort is built to protect the passage of River Indus
during the ruler of Akbar under the supervisor of Khawaja Shamsuddin Khawafi.
Now on one side of
the fort is Peshawar road and on the other side is Indus River.
Kot Diji Fort
The Kot Diji Fort also known as Fort
Ahmadabad. It located in the town of Kot Diji in Khairpur District, 25 miles
east of the Indus River at the edge
of the Thar Desert.
This fort is built in between 1785 and 1795 by Mir Sohrab Khan
Talpur.
Rohtas Fort
Rohtas fort is built by the king Sher shah Suri in 16th
century to keep an eye on the rebel of times. It was
inscribed as by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1997.
It is one the extraordinary example of
Muslim military architecture .The fort is one of the largest and most
formidable in the subcontinent.
Lahore Fort
List of forts in Pakistan is
uncomplete without writing about Lahore fort also known as Shahi Qila. It declared a UNESCO World Heritage
Site in 1981. It is located in the heart of Lahore which signifies
the brilliance in construction of the Mughal Empire. It was built by Emperor Akbar
and is still there in very admirable condition.
The fort consists of two sections. The first part of the fort
comprises gardens and the Diwan-e-khas, led to by the main entrances. This
served for the executive purposes of the court. Another part of the fort
contains the Sheesh Mahal, the palace of mirrors. The walls of the fort are decorated
with blue Persian Kashi tiles, and there are also rooms for residential
purposes.
Skardu
Fort
This fort is built in 16th century by the king
Ali Sher. According to the structure of the fort it looks like it exclusively constructed
for the defense purposes because the fort is built on the top of the hilland
one side is surrounded by Indus River and on the other side is Skardu Village.
It is called Kharpocho fort which means king of forts due
its magnificence Mughal emperor Aurangzeb attempted to conquer but couldn’t succeed.
Derawar Fort
This magnificent fort is located on the edge of the desert.
It is 100km in south of Bahawalpur, Ahmadpur East Tehsil. This fort was first
built in 9th century by kings of Rai Jajja Bhati, a Hindu Rajput from Jaisalmir
in India's Rajasthan state.
However, it was the Nawab of Bahawalpur, Sadeq Mohammad Khan I,
who captured the fort in 1733 and had it rebuilt to how it looks today.
Shigar Fort
Shigar fort means “Fort on The
Rock” this fort is built in the 17th century by the Raja of the Amacha Dynasty
of Shigar. The fort has been restored by Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan
